We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Saxophone Programme! The course will run this summer, and will cover both classical and jazz repertoire alongside fantastic workshops.
Elements of the programme will include sight reading, technique, style, composition and improvisation, with masterclasses from the highest calibre of educators and professional musicians.
Saxophone students will take part in all group workshops and activities with members of our other programmes, and will have the opportunity to perform at our weekly Performance Platforms, as well as in our Final Showcase concert.
The course will focus on both solo performance and chamber music, with specialist tuition in ensemble playing, and students will be encouraged to collaborate with members of our piano, vocal and orchestral courses to create their own partnerships and ensembles.
Auditions for all our courses are still open, so don't miss out! You can apply using our online application form. Make sure you submit your application before places for this summer run out!

We're listening to...
French master of musical impressionism Claude Debussy was a pioneer of his time and this fantastic work for alto saxophone is no exception, full of beautiful and mysterious harmonies and wonderful writing for an instrument still new to classical music. Debussy himself never heard the music performed however, as the piece was not published until after his death.
Coltrane's iconic interpretation of this wonderful tune, originally written by Rodgers and Hammerstein for The Sound of Music, is a staple of any jazz-loving saxophonist. From the album of the same name released in 1961, Coltrane plays soprano saxophone with great virtuosity and freedom, varying the tune with trills and interesting syncopation.
