Ingenium is just two weeks away and we couldn't be more excited - here's a few highlights of the jam-packed summer of music making ahead...
Our biggest summer yet is just about to begin. In our four weeks of intensive music making we're welcoming students from 46 countries - that's more countries than are represented in the World Cup!
Five amazing concerts
There are lots of opportunities to see Ingenium students perform this summer - during our first week we'll be performing a public concert in Oxford's prestigious chamber music venue, the Holywell Music Room. We'll welcome friends and family for a concert in Winchester College, and then perform our public concert in St James's Piccadilly, a beautiful church in central London.
Lastly, in our final week Ingenium piano students will give a recital in Winchester Cathedral, before we welcome friends and family for our Festival Showcase. This will be a celebration of everybody's hard work over four weeks, with performances featuring students from all our programmes. There will also be afternoon tea with scones, tours of Winchester College, and a garden party with wine and canapés - an afternoon to remember.
World-class workshop leaders
Our workshops and musicianship sessions at Ingenium are one of the true highlights of the course each year - and 2018 is no exception. The variety and quality of our worshops is down to our visiting staff, who are leaders in their fields and wonderful educators.
This year we're excited to be welcoming internationally acclaimed composer Errollyn Wallen, whose music has been performed in leading concert halls and theatres around the world, and Dominic Peckham, whose dynamic conducting sees him equally at home leading the English National Opera and the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain - just two names from the long list of musicians who'll be sharing their expertise with us.
Our musicianship sessions this year range from jazz and improvisation to Alexander technique and performance anxiety - so there's the chance for everyone to try something new.
Four exciting trips
A summer at the Ingenium Academy is not just about the quality music making - it's a true cultural experience, with the opportunity to discover the sights, culture and heritage of London the English countryside.
During our four weeks this summer we'll be taking a trip to the dreaming spires of Oxford, discovering the beauty of our ancient city of Winchester, and experiencing the quintessential seaside town of Bournemouth (perhaps even sampling some fish and chips!).
We'll also be making two trips to London, where we'll take a river cruise along the Thames, immerse ourselves in the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden, and take in sights including Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament. We'll also go to a top West End musical - you'll have to wait and find out which one...
We have just a few places remaining, so there's still time to be part of the Ingenium Academy this summer - don't delay!
